Day 1 - Dublin
17.11.2011 - 18.11.2011
I just woke up In the cutest little place in Dublin. It's not even 6 yet, but I feel completely awake. Vee's still sleeping.
I can't believe I'm actually here. I mean, it should have hit me now, after being on a plane for 24 hours, and stuck at Abu Dhabi for 2. But it still feels like I'm going to get a call any minute from some school asking me to work.
So the flight from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi was actually great. It was surprisingly comfortable and I even slept. I can never sleep on planes. The highlight of the trip was me having a nose emergency and no tissues and a sleeping Vee blocking my exit, so I had to do the deed into my beanie. Not a very proud or lady like moment.. We got to Abu Dhabi.. And I swear, I have never felt more confused. There was no one to direct us and we got yelled at a few times.. Then we remembered an article that Liam posted on Vee's, listing the different ways that we could get arrested and realized it would be way too easy for us. So we sat on the floor and at our chips, trying not to look at anyone or swear or talk, really. Leaving that country was the best thing we've ever done lol.
The flight to Dublin was disgusting. Crying children, squishy seats, more crying children. One of them even vomited at the end of it. Gross man. Totally gross.
So we get to the airport in Dublin, wait an hour to get our passport stamped by a very cute passport stamper, find our bags, hire our car, get lost even with a gps, and finally get to Donnybrook Hall. I don't think I have even been to a place where I have felt so welcomed and at home in the space of 5 minutes. Maybe not even at my own home lol. The place is adorable. The rooms are lovely. The staff are the friendliest people I have ever met. That's another thing about Ireland, the people are so damn nice! Like, for no reason. Everyone is just helpful and friendly and they ALL have manners on the road. It's craziness, it'll you! So Terry and Anthony, who work at Donnybrook welcome us into their common area which is a small lounge room adorned with thank your cards and family pictures. Terry gives us all this information on what to do in Dublin and tells us where we can eat, which is probably the most important thing lol. He send us to the corner of the street we're on, to a place called O'Connell's. The place is so nice and fancy inside, and the food we ordered.... Oh jeez. Amazing. We both ordered this steak.. And it was just perfection. I can't even talk about it without getting emotional lol.
We originally planned to go see Breaking Dawn, but as soon as we get back to the room, we can't move. The beds are also extremely comfortable..
So I've decided I'm never leaving this place.
Laura.
P.S. I'll put up photos soon ![]()
